Monday after Easter, 4/16/01Romans 6:6, 7 For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. --NIV
In the name of the One with Whom we have been crucified, amen.
Christ has risen from the dead, what a glorious truth that is. His resurrection means freedom for us--freedom from the power of sin in our lives.
If you are able to remember a time when you were a slave to sin, you realize what it means to be free from the power of sin. The unbelieving world doesn't understand this. It thinks that being a Christian means being a slave to God in such a way that a person can't do anything that is enjoyable. But slavery to Christ is indeed freedom from sin, and sin is a harsh and demanding master. It wants to destroy us. Christ Jesus, on the other hand, is a gentle and loving master. He wants what is best for us. He wants us to live forever in happiness.
Because of Christ's resurrection, you have been set free from the power of sin. You are free to serve Christ out of thanks and love. You have been freed to live for the One Who gives life. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, bless us in Your resurrection so that we may always live for You, amen.
