Tuesday after the First Sunday after Easter, 4/24/01Hebrews 3:18, 19 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter His rest if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief. --NIV
In the name of the One Who gives us rest, amen.
It is truly amazing how people can see the power of God displayed in their lives, and still not believe. That is very sad for them because their unbelief results in the loss of the promised rest of God. The Children of Israel were lead out of Egypt after the Lord performed many miraculous signs. They were led through the Red Sea on dry ground and the army of Egypt was destroyed. They were fed on manna, drank water from a rock, had the presence of God always before them night and day, and still they rebelled in unbelief!
How many people today are brought up in the faith, richly blessed by God, and still rebel in unbelief? They forfeit the promised rest from God because of their unbelief. But you and I are not like that. We believe that Jesus lived a perfect life in our place, and died an innocent death that paid for our sins. Out of thanks for that great gift, we live our lives to His glory. We do not rebel in unbelief; we live by faith. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, there is so much rebellion around us, that we can easily be caught up in it. Bless us by Your Holy Spirit, and keep us in the True Faith so that we may enter eternal rest, amen.
