Monday after Palm Sunday, 4/09/01Luke 19:45, 46 Then He entered the temple area and began driving out those who were selling. "It is written," He said to them, "My house will be a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers." --NIV
In the name of the One Who cleanses His Father's house, amen.
Holy Week is a Passover event. In fact, Holy Week is the fulfillment of the Passover. In Exodus 12 we read the regulations for the Passover. In those regulations we see that a perfect lamb was taken into the home on the tenth day of the month to make sure it is without defect. On that first day (the tenth of the month) the house was cleansed of yeast. Now yeast is a symbol for sin.
Jesus entered Jerusalem on the tenth day of the month, and the first thing He did was to go and cleanse the temple. Christ still cleanses His father's house to this day, and we pray that He will continue to do so. Part of Christ's duties as our Passover Lamb is to cleanse God's house from sin, and even to cleanse our hearts so that we may truly thank and praise our Heavenly Father. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for cleansing Your Father's house. The church still needs cleansing today, and we ask that You throw out all the yeast of sin in our churches. More than that, we ask You to cleanse our hearts as well, so that we may worship our heavenly Father in righteousness, amen.
