I Corinthians 15:20-21 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. --NKJV In the name of Him Who has become the firstfruits of us all, amen.
When that first tomato ripens on the vine it is a sign of things to come. It is a sign that more and more tomatoes will ripen after it. So it is with the Resurrection of Jesus. Adam’s disobedience in the garden brought death into the world. Because of His act all mankind after him must die.
But just as one man brought death into the world, so one Man brought life as St. Paul testifies. Christ’s resurrection broke the stranglehold which death had over us. Because of his resurrection, we too will rise. His resurrection is a sign of things to come. He is the firstfruits of all who will rise in His Name, including those who had fallen asleep prior to His resurrection.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You that You have raised our Lord Jesus from the dead by Your Holy Spirit and that now He has become the firstfuits of all those who will rise. Fill our hearts with the comfort and assurance of our own Resurrection based on this fact. Amen.
