1 Peter 2:2
As new born babies desire the pure milk of the Word, that by it you might
grow in salvation.
original

In the name of the One in Whom we are born again, amen.

There are many things that are offered as sources of truth--science, our
emotions, philosophy, logic, experience. Depending on our personality
some of these have great influence over us, while others do not. If we
are very educated, it might be philosophy, science or logic. If we are
of an artistic bent, it will very likely be our emotions. For those of
us who have been burned by empty promises, it is experience. All of
these things can at times be sources of truth, but they are not certain
enough for us to base our faith on them. Science changes with new
theories and discoveries. Logic has its fallacies. Emotions often lie.
Experience may not apply the same way in every situation.

St. Peter tells us that as people newly born in the faith, we should
desire the pure milk of the Word. It is the Word that is able to make us
grow strong in our salvation. The Holy Spirit works through the word to
strengthen our faith so that we will one day be face to face with our
Savior. Nothing else is able to make us grow in faith. Everything else
is junk food.

But instead of trusting our emotions by which we sometimes don't feel
saved, we have the sure Word of God that tells us we have Salvation in
Christ. Instead of banking on Science which changes, we have the
unchanging Word of God. Instead of human logic, we have divine decrees.
Instead of experience which may work in one situation but not in another,
we have the universal Word of God.

So, new born child, instead of trusting in spiritual junk food, desire
the milk of the Word which makes you strong. Desire the Word because God
works through it to keep you strong in the true faith. Amen.

Prayer:
Dear Holy Spirit, forgive us for trusting in things that do not have the
ability to strengthen faith. Encourage us to feed on Your holy word.
Work through Your holy word to strengthen us in the true faith unto life
everlasting, amen.
