Monday After the Eighth Sunday After Trinity, 8/06/01

1John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. --NASB In the name of the One Who wants us to be safe from false prophets, amen.

It would be difficult to over stress the fact that many false prophets have gone out into the world. The devil wants to steal us away from God, and so he sends out many false prophets in the hope that he will lead some of God's people astray.

But forewarned is forearmed. There is no reason we should ever be led astray by a false prophet. We are told to test the spirits, and we have God's word as the standard to test them against. Our gracious God Who loves us gives us the very instrument we need to detect false prophetsHis holy word. Amen.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for warning us about false prophets. Keep us in Your word so that we easily recognize false prophets and stay away from them, amen.
