Revelation 12: 10, 11 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink fro death. --NIV

In the name of the Lamb, amen.

It is interesting that Satan bears the names "Deceiver," and "Accuser." On the one hand he will do everything he can to get us to believe his lies. Then, when we have sinned, he will accuse us again and again. He tries to get us to despair of God's mercy.

Certainly we are guilty. Certainly we deserve God's wrath. All of us have sinned very much in our lives. If every one of our sins were laid bear today, it would be very hard for us not to despair. The accuser has lost. The only thing left for him is to try to snatch as many souls away from God as possible. He will promise anything. He will go to any length, and he will use our guilt and shame to get us to despair. "My sin is too great to be forgiven," he wants us to think.

But this passage tells us the end of the matter right from the beginning: "They over came him by the blood of the Lamb." Our souls were like dirty diapers--filthy and stinking. But they have been bleached in the blood of the Lamb. Now they are clean, and soft, and pleasant smelling to God. What can the accuser do? What stain is there to point out?

Yes the wrath of God rests on the accuser. He is thrown down, and we are raised up. He faces the lake of fire, we the bliss of heaven. His is the darkness of damnation, ours the glory of God. Thanks and praise be to the lamb who was, and is, and is to come. Amen.

Prayer:

Dear heavenly Father, You have made us conquerors in the blood of Christ. May Your kingdom come quickly so that all whom You have chosen in Christ may be taken out of this world of sorrow. Take us home to be with You in heaven. Give us voices to praise Your holy name forever, amen.
