John 1: 1--3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. Everything was made by Him, and not one thing that was made was made without Him. --GWN

In the name of the Word, amen.

If we look around at our world we see astonishing things. There is great order and wisdom in creation. Consider something as simple as ice, and see the great wisdom that went into it. Water as it gets colder gets more dense and sinks. But as it turns to ice, it expands and floats. This is very important. If it didn't work like this, lakes and rivers would freeze to the bottom. The oceans would not have many of the currents that keep them full of nutrients. Most of the animal life in the ocean would die.

But Jesus, the Word of God, is the one by whom all things were made. He is very wise. We on the other hand tend to be very foolish. Who would think that ice should float? Our foolishness is much greater than that, however. In our foolishness we often doubt Christ's wisdom and His love for us. Because of this we cannot approach His glory.

But the fact that Jesus is the one by whom all things were created is a great benefit to us. He knows each of us very well. He knows better than we do what we need. He is able to repair the damage that sin has done in our lives. Praise and thanks be to our wise creator. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You are truly wise and wonderful. Your wisdom is unspeakable, Your glory is unapproachable. Forgive us for being foolish by doubting Your great wisdom and love. Recreate us, through the Gospel, in Your image so that we may approach Your glory, amen.
