1 John 3: 16--19
We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. We shall know by this that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heat before Him.
--NASB
In the name of the One Who laid down His life for us, amen.
We often talk about how good works flow naturally from faith. We know from Holy Scripture that faith without works is dead. We realize that our life is to reflect our faith.
Then we very quickly want to set aside the works that should flow from faith, and justify not doing them. This shows us just how weak our faith really is.
But Christ's love for us is very powerful. He reminds us what He has done for us. He opens our eyes to see His good works for us, and we find the cause and purpose of our own good works. Today, as you go about the work the Lord has set before you, May the Love that Christ has shown for you motivate you to live to the glory of God. Amen.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for Your great love for us. Help us to show that same love to others, amen.
