Monday after the First Sunday of Advent, 12/04/00John 19: 19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. --NIV
In the name of the King of the Jews, amen.
Some king, huh? Tacked up on a cross by the rebellion of His own people. Rejected, ridiculed, and spit on by His subjects. But out of defeat came victory and salvation for everyone who believes in Him. And, like Phoenix, Christ Jesus rose to be more glorious (if that were possible) than ever. The sign that was meant as a cutting remark to the people who pressured Pilate to kill Jesus, spoke volumes about Him. He is a king. He is The King, the One Who loved His people so much that He was willing to die for them.
You and I have a king whom we serve. And our King rules over us, and over all things for our benefit. He has a kingdom that is huge and pwerful, and He sits on His throne to judge all people. Finally, as our King, He protects us and provides for us. Glory to our King! Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You are our King. While You were rejected and killed by Your own people, You rose in victory to save countless numbers of people who follow You. Rule over us so that we may glorify You in eternity, amen.
