Friday after the First Sunday of Advent, 12/08/00Psalm 24: 7-10 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord Mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty-He is the King of glory. --NIV
In the name of the King of glory, amen.
We have a number of sayings that tell us that appearances don't reveal much: "Don't judge a book by its cover," and "Good things come in small packages," are just two of them. When Christ came, many people wanted to judge Him by his cover. He looked like any other man. There was nothing special about Him. This fact was even prophesied in the Old Testament. But inside He was still the King of glory.
We are now in the season of preparation. We are in advent, which should be the most important season of our Church Year, because we are to be always prepared for the King of Glory to return. So, lift up your heads with joy and let the King of glory come into your hearts today. Later, when He returns visibly in all His glory, you will be ready for Him. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You are the King of glory. Help us never to forget that fact. Keep us strong in the True Faith by focusing our attention on Your glory, amen.
