Saturday after the First Sunday of Advent, 12/09/00

Ephesians 1: 22, 23 And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills everything in every way.

In the name of the One Who is head over everything for the Church, amen.

What person, who is in charge of something, doesn't use his power to protect what He is in charge of? The business owner looks out for his business. The president of the United States looks out for the U. S. The mother looks out for her children, etc. It is no different with Christ Jesus. All things have been placed under His feet. He has total power, and He uses that power for the benefit of the Church.

Sometimes as we make plans in the Church and we try to get things done, it seems like nothing goes right. We watch the laws that are proposed and see that we are dangerously close to committing so called "Hate Crimes" because of the way those laws are written. In our communities it has become very difficult to rid ourselves of "adult bookstores." We are told that we should leave our religion at home when we go to vote. Face it, the powers of darkness have been marshaled against the Church. But Christ, Who has even the powers of darkness under His feet, rules for the good of His Church. Nothing that happens to you is without purpose. No attack on the Church goes unchecked. Instead Christ, Who sees all things, laughs at those who attack His body, the Church. He laughs because in the end He turns those attacks around and wins more people for Himself. The powers of darkness become weaker, but Christ and His Church become stronger. Praise be to our King Who rules all things for the good of His Church. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, we often feel weak because we are attacked at every turn. But You are strong and all powerful. Guard Your Church and make her strong! Overthrow all those who want to destroy her. Cause all people who attack her to repent and walk with her in peace. We ask this to the glory of Your holy name, amen.
