Monday After The Fourth Sunday in Advent

Psalm 51: 1, 2 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. --NIV

In the name of the One Who washes away all our iniquity.

It is just a few day before the holidays. Is your house clean and ready to go? One of the ways we get ready is to clean. It is the same with our spiritual house. We clean our house in repentance. That is primarily what Advent is all about. It is a season of repentance--cleaning our spiritual house.

Fortunately God has given us the soap and water we are to use in cleaning our spiritual house. He has given us the soap of the ten commandments which loosens the dirt of our sins by showing us our own evil. Then he has given us the water of Baptism to wash the sin away. As you continue to get ready for the holidays by cleaning your house, may you remember to clean your spiritual house too. May you return to the waters of your Baptism by repenting of your sin and hearing again that your sins are forgiven. Amen.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for giving us what we need in order to prepare for our Savior's return. Bless us by Your Holy Spirit who came to us in our Baptism, and keep us in the true faith, amen.
