Psalm 51: 7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. --NIV

In the name of the One Who cleanses us, amen.

Here is the cry of the penitent heart to no one but God. The penitent heart cries to God because no one else can save it. It cannot save itself, and no man, angel, or other being can save it. It cries to the Lord for cleansing. The sprinkling and washing that comes from God is the sprinkling and washing in the blood of Christ. That sprinkling and washing happens by the hearing of the Word, the Lord's Supper, and Holy Baptism.

What are the sins that cause your heart to cry out? Are you crying out to the Lord for cleansing? He is the only one who can truly cleans you. And, because Christ Jesus poured out His blood for you, that cleansing is yours. That cleansing creates in us a clean heart and renews our spirits as the psalm goes on to tell us. The very sins that plague your conscience are washed away in Jesus' blood. May your heart rejoice today in this knowledge. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for sprinkling us with Your blood. Thank You for washing us clean from all our sin. Help us to always cry out to Your for cleansing. Renew a right spirit within us so that we may be Your own and serve You all our days, amen.
