Hebrews 4: 14--16 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One Who was tempted in all things as we are, yet with out sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need. --NASB
In the name of our great high priest, amen.
A priest is someone who acts as a go between for God and man, and he is a man himself. This is important, because the priest has to go before God and plead for us. Our Savior Jesus is able to sympathize very well with our needs and weaknesses. When He goes before the Father, He goes and pleads for us like no angel could. He has experienced our humanity, and begs God's mercy and grace for us.
So, now that Christmas is past, and you have a moment to reflect on the holiday, you may be conscious of various sins that you committed. Perhaps you ate or drank too much. Maybe bad words flew between you and another member of your family. Or were you one of the parents dragging their children through the stores, screaming at them and being rough with them because the crowds were just too much to handle? Whatever it is, Jesus understands, and is eager to plead your case before our heavenly Father. So take your sins to Him and ask for His help. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for experiencing temptation and human weakness just as we experience it. More than that, thank You for remaining sinless so that You could be our great high priest. Forgive us all our sins, and beg our heavenly Father's mercy. Give us Your Holy Spirit to keep us strong in the True Faith, amen.
