Acts 20: 7 And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to depart the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight. --NASB

In the name of the One about Whom we speak, amen.

This passage is amazing to me. It is hard to imaging people listening to a preacher until midnight. Yet St. Paul was eager to tell the congregation about Jesus, and they were eager to listen.

That is not to say that we despise preaching. It is hard to absorb so much all at once. Fortunately for most of us, we do not have to worry about the lack of a preacher. The Lord has truly blessed us by providing those who preach the word. May they always hold salvation in front of us so that we never do despise preaching or God's word. Amen.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, You provided the word so that we could be brought to faith and kept in it. We ask that You always provide us with faithful preachers who preach Your word in purity and all its fullness. Keep us from ever becoming tired of Your word and despising it, amen.
