Matthew 24:26, 27 “So if anyone tells you, `There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, `Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” --NIV In the name of the One Who warned us about false teachers, amen.

Look at our Bible passage very carefully. Do you know of any groups that have said, “Jesus is in the inner rooms?” Or how about, “Jesus is out in the desert?” Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that Jesus returned secretly or invisibly, depending on with whom you speak. In other word’s, He is supposed to be in the inner rooms with the leaders of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Jim Jones claimed to be Christ out in the desert, so to speak. David Koresh was similar. But no Christian should ever be fooled by such people. Why? Because the Holy Scriptures tell us plainly that Jesus will return suddenly for everyone to see.

Once again we see that the Holy Scriptures are our only sure source of truth. They, and the sacraments, are the only place where we should look for our Savior. Does that seem awful limited? Well, actually it is a blessing, because we never have to second-guess. We always know for certain what the truth about God and our salvation is. Amen.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are wise, knowing men’s hearts and what the future holds. Thank You for warning us about the false teachers that were coming. Bless us through Your holy word, amen.
