John 8: 31, 32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." --NIV

In the name of the One Who gives us the truth that sets us free, amen.

If you had a tape recorder that didn't record, would it really be a tape recorder? If you have a Christian who doesn't hold to the teaching of Christ, is he really a Christian? Those who hear Jesus, truly listen Him, hold to His teaching.

So, how do you measure up? Are you really hearing Jesus? Do you truly listen to Him? Or do His words go in one ear and out the other? Listen to His words, and hold to His teaching because in that is freedom from sin. And if you are having trouble listening, ask the Holy Spirit to open your ears so that you may be free. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, it is our Lord's desire that we hold to His teaching, but we are often distracted by so many things that we don't even hear Him. Open our ears to our Savior's voice so that we may be free from the sin that would destroy us. In His name we pray, amen.
