Monday after Laetare (Rejoice!) 3/26/01Exodus 20:17a You shall not covet your neighbor's house. --NIV
In the name of the One Who protects our property, amen.
In ancient Israel, land was kept in a family. It was an inheritance that was not to be sold or given away. It was given by God and was to be respected by all. Perhaps part of the reason that the inheritance was so sacred, is because it symbolized our inheritance in heaven.
Whatever God gives us is sacred. We are not to desire what belongs to someone else, and we should greatly value what He gives us. He knows what we need and what is best for us. He also protects our property, and promises a home for us in heaven. Glory be to His name for providing security for us. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord, in Your great wisdom You give us what we need. Help us to be satisfied with the things that you give us so that we don't desire what belongs to someone else, amen.
