John 10: 35, 36 "If He called them gods, to whom the Word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God?'" --NASB

In the name of the Son of God, amen.

"Get it in writing!" That is the standard warning in any sort of meaningful transaction. The idea is that if a promise is in writing it has to be kept. It eliminates any sort of "My word against yours." So God gave us His promises in writing, and even assures us that what He wrote down cannot be overturned--not even by Himself.

Is it scandalous to suggest that God can't do what he wants? Not at all. God desired to bind Himself by His written word, and He did just that. So, when God promises that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, we can be absolutely certain that it is true. Glory be to the Lord Who has bound Himself by His written word. Amen.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, in Your great wisdom You caused the Scriptures to be written, and have bound Yourself by them. We praise You for this, and thank You that You have given us such certainty in our salvation, amen.
