Romans 4: 3 For what does the Scripture say? "And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness." --NASB

In the name of the One Who speaks to us in the Scriptures, amen.

There is a joke that goes, "When all else fails, read the instructions." It's funny because so many people won't read the instructions for something, until they have gotten totally frustrated. The same holds true of the Bible; many people just won't read it, and it is the instruction book for salvation.

The Bible is, in fact, the only place we should look for our doctrine. The question, "What does the Scripture say?" should be the first one that comes to mind when addressing any problem of a spiritual or social nature. It should be the first question for the church to ask in all its dealings. The Scriptures give us the guidance we need to act in a God pleasing manner. They also give us the very faith that God credits as righteousness. Amen.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, You gave us Your holy word as the source of all doctrine. Forgive us for not consulting Your word as we should. Open our eyes to see the wonderful guidance, and life-giving truth of Your holy word, amen.
