1 Timothy 6:8-10 And if we have food and covering, with those we shall be content, but those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith, and pierced themselves with many a pang. --NASB In the name of the One Who provides us with food and covering, amen.

There is a song that says, "Can't take it with you when you're gone, but I want enough to get there on." That's a pretty good statement. We need to remember that no matter how much wealth we accumulate in this life, it will be left to someone else. Yet we need enough so that we are not tempted to steal. This week we consider the ninth commandment. It is one of the commandments where God crawls inside of our heads to look at our thoughts. We are not to even want things that don't belong to us. Such desire is sinful, and can lead to falling from faith. For this reason we are warned not to set our hearts on being rich, but to be content with food and clothing. Under such circumstances we are neither tied to material things, nor in such need that we would steal. Amen.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, it is You Who provide all things for us. Please give us enough that we are not tempted to steal and dishonor the name of Christ, nor so much that we forget that our blessings come from You, amen.
