Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. --NASB In the name of the One of Whom Adam was a type, amen.

Our natural corruption, which we received from our Father Adam, is damning all by itself. It causes death even apart from willful sins. And that death, if untreated, results in eternal death. But Adam is a type, or picture, of Christ in a very special way that we will discuss later this week. For now we realize that like Adam, Jesus began holy and perfect. However unlike Adam, Jesus also continued holy and perfect. And His blood, which we receive in the Lord's Supper, became the antidote for death because Jesus rose from the dead and can never die again. His blood gives us immortality so that we who believe in Him will live even if we die. Amen.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You shed You innocent blood for us so that we might live. We praise You for Your infinite love and mercy. Bless us in the Holy Supper so that we receive life and salvation through the forgiveness of sins in Your body and blood, amen.
