Luke 10:18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." --NIV In the name of the One Who saw Satan fall from heaven, amen.

You may have already guessed that the doctrine we are addressing this week is the doctrine of Satan and other demons. Yesterday we saw that the devil exists, and that he wants to destroy us. Today we see that he fell from heaven, that is, he was created as a good angel, but was thrown down from heaven because he rebelled. The passage cited here goes on to stress that the disciples should rejoice that their names are written in heaven. Salvation does not apply to the devil and his angels; it only applies to human beings.

So, rather than being enamored with the power of Satan, or power over him, we should take pride in the fact that God loves us so much that He sent Jesus die for us so that we could have life in Him. Human beings are very special. Only they have the chance of salvation. Christ came for us, and that gives us great value. It also gives us a great reason to rejoice. Amen.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for giving Your life for us. Keep us safe in Your hand so that we never fall as Satan did, amen.
