Tuesday after the Second Sunday after Easter, 5/1/01

Mark 3:4 And He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent. NASB

In the name of the One Who came to save life, amen.

Our Savior came to save life; that was the essence of His ministry. Those who didn't believe couldn't accept that. They looked on His saving work with suspicion, jealousy, even hatred. But that didn't stop our Savior. In fact, His reaction to their unbelief shows that He wanted to save their lives as well. Perhaps we aren't so different from Jesus' enemies at times. Jesus doesn't always fit our expectations, and we sometimes resent what He does. There are people that He calls to faith, whom we dislike. There are ways that He works that we don't understand. And yet our Savior came to save our lives.

Such is the great love of our savior. He reached out to everyone in love so that they could have life in Him. He even reached out to those who hated Him so that they too could live in Him. It is to His glory that some of them did repent and believe. It is to our great benefit that He forgives our resentment and saves us. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You came to save life, and gave Your own life for us. Forgive us for the times when we do not reach out to others with Your love to save them. Keep us alive in You, and help us to reach out to others so that they too can be saved, amen.
