Wednesday after the Fifth Sunday after Easter, 5/23/01John 16:23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. --NIV In the name of the One in Whose name we pray, amen.
So very often at the end of a prayer we say, "In Jesus' name we pray," without giving any thought to what that means. But to pray in Jesus' name is more than to simply say those words. It means that we have faith that because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, our heavenly Father hears our prayers. It also means that we ask for things that are in keeping with the Christian faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we do in fact pray in Jesus' name with all that that means. Amen.]
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank and praise you for sending Your only begotten Son to die for us. We know that for His sake You hear our prayers. Bless us by Your Holy Spirit so that we truly pray in His name, amen.
