Wednesday after the Sunday after Ascension, 5/30/01Ephesians 4:12, 13 For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. --NASB In the name of the One of Whose body we are members, amen.
It is always nice to know the purpose behind things. When it comes to the ministry, we see that the purpose is to build up the body of Christ to maturity. Jesus had a purpose in mind when He gave the ministry to the Church, and knowing that purpose helps the Church make good use of its ministers. They do not exist for show, for waiting on tables, or even as an end to themselves. They exist to equip God's people and build them up to spiritual maturity. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for giving the ministry to the Church so that we may be equipped for service and built up to maturity. Give Your Holy Spirit to our ministers so that they faithfully work among Your people, amen.
