Friday after the Second Sunday after Easter, 5/4/01

John 17:14--16 I have given them Thy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. --NASB

In the name of the One Who gave us God's word, amen.

"Wow that's out of this world!" That was a fairly common saying at one time. The thought was that something was very impressive, almost unbelievable. Well, Christ's ministry is out of this world! It is very impressive, and it deals with things that are not a part of this world. It deals with heavenly things, and the things of God. It deals with eternal life.

In reality we are out of this world. Yes, we are still in the world, but we are really aliens living here for a while. And, as aliens, we face the reality that the people of this world might attack us. But our God protects us. He guards us because we belong to Him. We serve as His ambassadors, and carry on His ministry which is "out of this world." Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to this world even though You are not of this world. Thank You also for choosing us out of this world, and protecting us while we still live in the world. Help us to be faithful ambassadors for You, and reach many people as we carry on Your ministry, amen.
