Friday after the First Sunday of End Time, 11/10/00

Luke 12: 32-34 "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell you possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thiefs come near and no moth destroys. For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also. --NIV

In the name of the One Who has given us the Kingdom, amen.

How are your stocks doing? With all this uncertainty in our presidential election, the stock market has been a bit nervous. It's funny that before the market crash of twenty-nine, everyone was in the market and talking about it. Even widows and pastors were in it. Then it fell and there was nothing. It seems like everyone is in the market again.

I'm not trying to preach gloom and doom, but I would like you to consider where your treasure really is. Whether or not you have money on Wall Street, is that where your treasure really is, or is your real treasure on Eternity Street? Part of being prepared for Christ's return is to store up treasures in heaven. Interestingly, that thought is connected with giving to the poor. Treasure in heaven is all about people. May God grant that you are able to use your wealth and abilities in this world to gain great wealth in heaven. Amen.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, You created a world full of beauty and magnificence, and it is easy for us to get very attached to it. Help us to prepare for our Savior's return by using the treasure we have here to gain real treasure in heaven. We ask this by the Holy Spirit, and for the glory of Jesus' name, amen.
