Saturday after the first Sunday of End Time, 11/11/00

John 14: 28-29 "You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe." NIV

In the name of One Who went away, and will return, amen.

It is hared to take it when something happens suddenly, especially if it is a sad thing. Sometimes when something happens suddenly, we have trouble believing it. It takes time for us to adjust. For this very reason Jesus told the disciples ahead of time that He was going away and that He would return. If He hadn't told them ahead of time, they, and we, might have thought that He was leaving never to return.

As we wait for our Savior to return to us, we need to remember that He told us in advance that He was going, and that He would return again. If He left like He said He would, then He will also return like He said He would. We have not been abandoned; our Savior is coming back to take us where He has gone. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, so many things are uncertain in our lives that we begin to believe that Your promises are uncertain as well. When we face such times, remind us that You have fulfilled every promise that you have ever made including the promise that You were returning to the Father. Then we can be certain that You will keep Your promise to return and take us to the Father as well, amen.
