Wednesday after the Second Sunday of End Time, 11/15/00

Luke 21:10, 11 Then He said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven." --NIV

In the name of the One Who told us the signs of the end, amen.

Well, Israel is back at war again. It does seem like things have quieted down in other places though. Then again, trouble seems to be brewing between the U. S. and Mexico. We've had floods recently in places where we wouldn't expect a flood. Earthquakes come and go, we're still dealing with the AIDS epidemic, and people are still starving in some countries. There have been many "fearful events" such as terrorist bombings. I can't name a recent great sign from heaven, but there have been some in the past. For example, there is a huge crater in Siberia that was caused by something that fell from the sky.

Now, don't get upset by all of this; Christ Jesus is still in control. All of these signs were prophesied by Him. As we see them taking place again and again, we should remember that Jesus will return soon. He will return and renew all things. It will be a new beginning, not the end. All things will be purified. What is evil and bad will be removed, what is good and holy will remain. Glory to Jesus who told us the signs of the end, amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, sometimes the events that remind us of Your coming return frighten us. Comfort us with Your holy Gospel, so that we are able to reach out to others in the midst of the disasters that signal Your coming return, amen.
