Mark 13: 32, 33 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come." --NIV

In the name of the One Who warns us to be on guard, amen.

Don't you hate it when your house is a mess and company comes? You know you should always be ready, and you usually are. But the one time your house isn't in order is the time you get company. Too bad there isn't some way you could always know when someone is going to come over.

Spiritually speaking, it will be much worse if our life isn't in order and Jesus returns. There won't be any last second running around to put things away. And it will be more than embarrassment that we will face. Because of this, many people have tried to predict the day that Jesus will return. But, Christ Jesus tells us plainly that no one knows when He will return, not even Himself! The point is to be prepared at all time. And Jesus gave us the things we need to be prepared. He gave us holy Baptism, His body and blood, confession and absolution, and His holy Word. These things keep us prepared for His return. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us the things that we need in order to be prepared for your return. Keep us from being led astray by people who claim they know the day when you will return. Make us stand firm in the true faith for the glory of Your holy name, amen.
