Matthew 24:12,13 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. --NIV In the name of the One saves us, amen.
It is easy for us to be cold in our love, to give it lip service but not practice it. It is easy to brush over sin and not confront it. It is easy for us to yawn at the thought of people going to hell for their unbelief. It is easy to lay in bed rather than commune with Christ. All of us suffer from love that is growing cold, so the Lord urges us to stand firm to the end.
We are not without the Lord's help either. It is His Holy Spirit that fills us and causes our hearts to burn with His love, the very love that our Savior showed to us by obediently facing death in our place, the very love that the Father showed by sending His beloved Son to die for us. That love overwhelms us and fills us. That love warms our cold dead hearts so that we love God and each other, standing firm to the end. Amen.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, You are the fire of love. Burn in us so that we love You with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and our neighbor as ourselves, amen.
