Tuesday After the Third Sunday of End Time, 11/20/01

Isaiah 40:6-8 A voice says, "Call out." Then he answered, "What shall I call out?" All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. --NASB In the name of the One Whose word stands forever, amen.

Where would you turn for answers, to something that is here today and gone tomorrow, or to someone whose word is eternal? The answer seems obvious, but so many turn to human philosophy and the clever phrases of astrologers for guidance in life. How sad, their words will fade away quickly. But the word of God remains forever.

What is most beautiful about that enduring word is that it tells us God loves us because Jesus lived and died for us. And if those words are eternal, then we can measure everything against them, even our own consciences and emotions that sometimes don't feel forgiven. Face it, even our emotions fade away, but the promises of God remain. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for giving us Your eternal word. Thank You that Your eternal word proclaims salvation to us in Christ Jesus, amen.
