John 10:27-30 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." --NIV In the name of the One Who holds us in His hand, amen.

It is not normally a compliment to be called a sheep. In fact, if you want to insult someone, all you have to do is make bleating noises to him. It means that you believe he is one of a crowd--someone who follows instead of leads. But as a Christian, that is exactly what we want to be. We want to be people who follow Christ. And that is a good thing.

Look at what the Good Shepherd says about His sheep. He says that no one can snatch them out of His hand. Our salvation rests securely in Jesus’ hands. Oh, to be sure, we can fall from faith through our own arrogance, but the humble sheep will never be snatched a way from Christ. What a blessing this is for us. We don’t have to worry that the devil will come along and take us away from Christ. Our faith rests securely in His hand. Amen.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd. Thank You for guarding our precious faith so that we do not need to fear that someone will steal us away from You. Amen.
