Luke 19: 41--44 As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you." --NIV
In the name of the God Who came to us, amen.
The Lord expects people to be ready to meet Him, and there are serious consequences for those who are not ready. There were serious consequences when Jesus came to us as the child in Bethlehem, and there will be serious consequences when He returns in Judgement.
But our Lord does not leave us without information. He gives us signs that tell when He is coming. He lets us know so that we are ready, and can avoid the destruction of those who are unprepared. The day will come when the signs will be hidden from people's eyes, but those who watch and pray now, will see them. This is Christ's mercy to His people: He gives them what they need to be prepared. May you always be prepared because the Word of God lives in you to show you the signs. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us the signs we need to recognize when You will come again. Open our eyes to see those signs so that we are prepared and may bring glory to Your holy name, amen.
