John 12: 47, 48 As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. --NIV
In the name of the One Who came to save the world, amen.
This week we have been looking at how the God's word is the only measure of judgment. We see that it is the only measure we use to judge what is truth, and now we see that it is also the only judge of faith. If we are disobedient to Christ Jesus, if we set ourselves up to be king instead of Him, we will be judged. But we will not be judged by Jesus, instead we will be judged Jesus' word.
But the same word that can be our judge can also save us by creating faith in our hearts. The same word that judges shows us our Savior, and moves us to honor and serve Him. The same word that judges comforts us with the knowledge that our sins are forgiven. May your ears be open to hear God's word, and your heart to believe it, so that you will not be judged by the word, but saved by it. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord God, You are without equal in wisdom, unrivalled in mercy, beyond understanding in love. You live without birth or beginning. You cannot die or come to an end. Your promises are unbreakable. Your word is an accomplished fact. In the Holy Spirit You allow us to approach You through Your Son, just as You approached us through Your Son in the Holy Spirit. But we do not dwell in uncreated light as You do. We are not wise or merciful. We are not faithful to our vows, and our words fall to the ground like glass from a broken window. Cover us with the righteousness of our Savior so that Your unfailing word will not judge us. Give us the innocence of Jesus so that Your word will show us Your unfailing love and cause us to live forever, rather than destroy us. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.
