Luke 7: 6, 7 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed." --NIV
In the name of the One Who speaks the word and we are healed, amen.
All this week we have looked at how the Word of God is our only sure source of knowledge about God and salvation. In our passage today we see that our healing is connected with that word. We are sick with sin, and we live in a world that is sick with sin. There is nowhere to turn to get away from the sin around us and in us. Our only hope is our Savior, Jesus Christ, who spoke His life-giving word. By that word we are healed. By that word we become spiritually alive.
Our Savior promised to always be with us. He promised to keep us in His care. He promised to come again and take us out of this cesspool we have made. He promised that we will be eternally refreshed, and that we will be with Him forever. These promises are His word, and His word is truth. May your heart be filled with joy knowing that your Savior spoke so many wonderful promises to you. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, we have no reason to be unhappy and every reason to be full of joy, because You promised us so many good things. Yet we are often sad because we look to our own selfish desires rather than Your holy will for our lives. Forgive us even of this sin, and keep Your promises ringing in our ears so that we will be joyful and seek Your holy will. We ask this by the power of Your Holy Spirit, amen.
