Zecharia 9: 9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. --NIV
In the name of the righteous, gentle King, amen.
It was prophesied hundreds of years before it happened. It was described in detail. A king who did not look like a king. A king who did not fit the mold. He would be the embodiment of compassion. He would be a savior king.
Does Christ Jesus fit the mold for you? Is he what you want Him to be? Many people want Christ Jesus to be an angry judge who will destroy the evil people around us. Others want Him to be a friend who will accept them no matter what they do. Some want Him to be a legend that teaches a nice moral. Still others want him to be their fairy Godmother, or a genie in a bottle who will grant their every wish and expect nothing in return.
But Christ Jesus is a king. He rules, saves, and protects. While He does not fit the expectation of all people, He is the king that we need. In all humility he gave His life to save His people. Thanks and praise belong to Him because He cares for His people. He rules all things so that His people may prosper. He saves His people from sin and death. And He protects His people from those who would destroy them. May the Humble King be more than you expected. May He rule in your life because He saved you from eternal death. May He protect your precious faith so that you may live forever! Amen.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, sometimes we want You to be something that You aren't. Forgive us when our expectation of You is selfish or evil. Fill us with You Holy Spirit so that we may stay faithful to You in the True Faith, amen.
