Clearwater Lutheran Parish (Rev. Joseph "Joey" Abrahamson drives me nuts: He dresses like he's homeless, but he's one of the better brains you'll find. Check out his papers and keep him in your prayers--he's got 4 congregations and about 30 shut-ins)

The Plucked Chicken Rev. Jesse Jacobsen calls on a story from the reorganization of the Norwegian Synod <now the ELS> in which one man in attendance observed that what was left of the Norwegian Synod looked like a plucked chicken. The man sitting next to him responded: "If it's healthy, the feathers will grow back." And indeed they did. Rev. Robert Lawson Sr. commented that the ELS is the most successful 20th century attempt at a new synod. Pastor Jacobsen takes the chicken to the vet for a health check.
