:: Wednesday After the Twelfth Sunday After Trinity, 8/26/2010 ::

Date: August 25th 2010

Luke 1:26b-32
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.
--KJV
In the name of the One Who became man. Amen.

“Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary and was made man.” It is tradition to bow at these words in the Creed. Why? Because this is the most profound thought known to man: God became man. What’s more is that He became man for man’s salvation. God became man in order to die. There is no greater love, and that love was the driving force of everything Christ did during His ministry on earth. Love is perhaps the Characteristic that most clearly showed Christ’s divine nature, and we were its object. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord God, You are love, and in Your love You sent Your Son to reveal Your love to us. He revealed Your love by giving His life for us. Cause Your Holy Spirit to dwell in us so that we always know Your love. Amen.
