:: Thursday After the Twelfth Sunday After Trinity, 8/26/2010 ::

Date: August 25th 2010

John 18:33-38
Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?” Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.
--NKJV
In the name of the One Whose kingdom is not of this world. Amen.

“And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried.” Ahh Pilate, you knew the truth, you saw the truth, and how like the people of our own day you still asked, “What is truth.” Christ Jesus is truth itself. He came from the Father to bear witness to the truth. He is the way, the truth, and the life. To come to Him is to come to the Father. The One Who is love sent His only begotten Son to reveal love to us. In Him we know Who God is and what He is like. In Him we are God’s children. In Him we are out of this world. God grant that we always hear His voice. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord God, our gracious heavenly Father. You sent Your Son to bear witness to the truth. Do not forsake us now, but give us the Holy Spirit to open our ears to hear and our hearts to believe in the One Who is the way to You so that in Him we might have life. Amen.
